My Office
Well, it is tax season, so I am spending lots and lots of time in my office at work. When I first started this job, the room seemed a little close for me (the last building I worked in had eleven foot ceilings, so the offices seemed hugh!) I think the main problem is that the office is painted a darkish purple. Now, I love the color purple, my engagement ring even has a dark amethyst stone, but it does make a room very dark. So I decided I needed to get some artwork that was 1) BIG and 2) lighter in color.Â
Here is what I got:
(and for my mom – it was such a bargain!!! originally $112, but it was on sale for 75% off , and I had to wait around for someone to help me get it down for about a 1/2 hour, so the clerk gave me an additional discount – bought it for $15)
The picture above shows the picture sitting on the floor because I got such a glare from where it usually is. You can see the dark purple there at the right. I also took the picture below so you can see what a great job it does of projecting light into my office. It actually reflects the ceiling lights so the room feels much bigger now!Â
Â
ps – never, never paint a room dark purple.Â
Thanks mom, for painting my room light purple when I was a child. I didn’t appreciate it then, but I do now!

Love the painting. It’s quite amazing how artwork changes the ambiance of a room, and this adds a lot of light! Yay for reflective glass!
I’m going to go to Michael’s to get some stuff for my new office. I hope I can get that kind of a bargain!!
Let’s talk soon!!

I have a set that Brittney drew for me, but one of the pieces of glass was broken and I haven’t replaced it yet. I need to do that and get them hung. So cool to have an artistic child!

Nice! We have some things that the kids have done & we’ve framed, but they’re not really office-quality. My favorite is a dragon that my 6 year old (Daniel, back in the day) drew on a cloth napkin in a restaurant. I was mortified (because of my lack of supervision), but it was so cool that I asked if we could keep it. It was a Chinese restaurant.

Can you sneak in sometime and paint your office, or is that a guaranteed firing?

The BIG Boss picked all of the colors for each part of the office. He said something about the colors having to do with productivity. So, I would guess he would be a little offended if I painted it. But good suggestion!

My first thought was Oh, I like that. My next one was yes, just the right price. Looks great!
