Still no kids
The second weekend that the kids were gone was my weekend to plan, and it rained all day Saturday. ( did I mentioned that it rained almost every day while our kids were gone? It was like Texas missed our kids and wanted them to come home!) So Saturday was mostly a stay at home day. We cleaned up some of the house and the only real trip we made was down to the Riverwalk to have dinner (no dancing, sigh).Â
But the lack of going anywhere Saturday was made up for on Sunday. Sunday we went to Greune (pronounced Green). We went to thier little outdoors market where Paul bought this striker that will light things on fire and I got a candle. So I think we are set! We also walked around, looked at all the little shops and went to the winery. We went to the little dance hall where they had live music and ate at Janie’s (which was very good, but did not outdo my favorite Jane for cooking – yeah I’m kissing up to my mom) There was also live music at the restaurant, but nothing really funny.
Â
After the resaurant we decided to leave Greune and headed north west towards Fredricksburg. We had enough time to hit three more wineries before they closed for the day. The first one had the best atmosphere, and if the wine had been better we would have stayed there the rest of the afternoon. The wines were drier than I like (Paul likes them dry sometimes) but they had a wonderful deck with cafe tables and the ladies running the tasting were really sweet.Â
The second place was nice, but they had college students running the tasting and they were not really very friendly. They did have a really good port, which we got a bottle of.
The third winery was a let down. The wine was ok, but the service was very poor, or they just didn’t like us. I think we would have purchased some wine there, but we had a hard time getting any of the staff to help us, so we left.Â
That was pretty much our second weekend. We had a lot of fun, but we did miss the kids.

He’s asleep so will have to get him to look at them tomorrow. It is hot, hot here. We could use some of your rain.
I’m glad you got a chance to get out while we were enjoying them. Love you. Mom

Gruene! We’ve been there! We’ve walked along those same streets! (Leo doesn’t remember, but I do…) Aaaawww…I wish we were in Texas again… then we could just ditch the kids and run off to the wineries with you…
