First day of school
Wed ,29/08/2007Declan started Kindergarten this year….sigh….
He did great and was a real trooper. He started at Atonement Academy which is the school at our church. The school itself is kinda funny because they made it look all mideval with little towers with the funny ridges at the top for shooting arrows and all. Of course there are uniforms because it is a Catholic school, but this one is more rigid than the one Brittney went to. The girls MUST wear the jumper (no pants or shorts) and the boys have to wear a tie. Now while it is really cute to see 15 little boys in ties, I would think it is probably annoying to them to have to wear them.
We have had some issues with the dropping off over the past two weeks, but this seems to be improving dailly so I think it is just an adjustment faze and he seems to be making friends. He also started a new daycare for afterschool as his former daycare is close to Paul’s office and not our house. But it’s a way cool daycare. It is actually a karate school that does aftercare. So Declan gets picked up at school around 3:00ish by the karate school (along with another boy Jack who is also in his class, not that these are the only students from our school, but it was neet that two boys in the same class were together ( by the way Jack also likes Starwars and light sabers!!!)) They go to daycare and have two half hour sessions before 5pm and break time and time to do homework. Needless to say he is a bit tired when we get home. (You won’t believe this Mom, but he goes to sleep before 9pm!)
He seems to like school and is doing ok on his writing skills. We are working every night on writing letters and numbers, but he gets lots of E’s on his papers. He has had a star or a smily face on his behavior sheet every day since school started. Hopefully it will be a fun year.
