Easter Eggs
I know I already showed pictures of us coloring the easter eggs, but I have a funny story about the eggs as well.
Friday night I was going to boil the eggs, so I put 18 eggs from one carton into a pot and put them on to boil. After the appropriate time, I took those eggs out of the pot to dry and placed the other 18 eggs we had purchased into the pot. I turned the pot on, and as I wanted to go upstairs to do something (probably look at e-mail) I asked Paul, who was watching TV to keep an eye on the eggs and went upstairs.
After an appropriate amount of time (probably an hour) I went back down stairs to check on the eggs. The pot was turned off on the stove, so I removed the eggs, thanked Paul for watching them and put them all in the fridgerator so we could color them on Saturday.
Saturday came and we had a blast coloring eggs. Then Sunday afternoon I went into the back yard to “hide” the eggs for Declan (Brittney decided she was not interested in playing this game). The dog was in the back yard, so everytime I put an egg down, he thought it was a ball and wanted to pick it up. So between placing eggs in plain sight, I was throwing the dogs ball so he would leave the eggs alone, which seemed to work.
I hid about 22 eggs of the 36 and decided that was probably enough, so I took the eggs to the back door and while holding onto the dogs collar, I handed the egg cartons to Declan and asked him to place them on the table 6 inches behind him. Being a small child, he decided to TAKE the eggs to his dad, who was also in the kitchen. He took about two steps and dropped the eggs. This should have been no big deal because the eggs were all boiled on friday and we were going to make deviled eggs out of them anyway.
However, when the eggs hit the floor, a number of them broke open revealing raw eggs. Apparently, I did not actually turn the second batch of eggs on when I placed them on the stove, and since Paul was not really paying any attention to me when I asked him to watch them, he did not notice it either. (Of course it still boggles me that he did not say anything when I thanked him for taking care of the eggs???)
Because I had placed the second batch of eggs in the hot water from the first batch, the outer membranes did harden enough that when we dyed the eggs (and from the pictures you can see that Declan was handling the things and we weren’t making him be extra careful or anything) they did not crack.Â
Needless to say, we had a very silly Easter egg hunt, and as Johnny Cash would say an “egg sucking hound”.

That is too funny! A little yucky, but really funny.
We didn’t do Easter Egg hunt at my house this year as there was snow on the ground. Alex colored eggs at Grandma Hedrin’s, but much like your dog, he thought they were balls, and they didn’t last long. They became egg salad before Easter and Grandpa Bill ate them.
Your website is fun, I get a big kick out of checking it. You all look great. I miss you guys.

That’s too funny!
Alex and my dog would have had a great time, as long as you weren’t using my eggs! lol.
Hopefully we can get together sometime later in the year. I miss you too!
Are you taking classes this summer? When do you graduate? Are you guys sticking around SD when you are finished?
