Texas Winter

It’s 28 degrees in San Antonio.  We had rain last night that turned to some ice and you would think that the world had stopped.  The city has shut down almost every major on/off ramp for the three major highways.  Which essentially means that I am stuck at home for a bit.  What is really funny is that the news girl is saying how it is soooo bitterly cold outside and everyone should bundle up, or better yet, stay home.  I thought those of you in actual winter conditions would get a kick out of the drastic response to the weather here.

28? TWENTY-EIGHT? I’d kill for weather above twenty degrees so we can take our preschoolers outside for a few minutes. Being cooped up because it’s so dangerously cold is taking it’s toll!

I know what it’s like to live in a big city during a storm, though. In Maryland, the stores would be jammed with people stocking up on milk, bread and toilet paper whenever they forcasted two flakes of snow.

It’s just so strange to hear the news anouncers saying stuff like “just stay at home”. Especially since in any other normal year this would be tax season and my boss would be saying “it’s just a little percipitation, we can still work until 8pm. Besides if you wait until 8pm, the rest of the drivers will be off the road!”

    ps – thanks for commenting!!

Wish we had only a couple of spots. You should have seen the calf slide down the hill today. Poor little guy. He could barely stand as it was but he got back up.

I was laughing at the Texas and California people on the news too. 28 degrees is a heat wave here. We had a wind chill of -15 this morning, and our high, reached overnight was 22. It’s around 10 right now with 20 mile an hour winds. I wish someone would tell us to just stay home when its like this outside, but unfortunately we’d lose nine months out of the year if that happened. I guess we’re just tough people up here in the great white north.

Just so you feel better Julie – “You should just stay at home”. Of course, when it snows there, you get snowed in, so I guess that God actually tells you when you should stay at home! (does that mean I am playing God??)
